From the recordings Spicy, Classy, (and a little) Sassy - Digital Download and I'm Glad There Is You
While improvising at the piano, I started experimenting with bassline-driven vamps, and one of them quickly stood out. It immediately made me think of the "Poinciana" groove from Ahmad Jamal’s iconic recording, but with a more modern feel. From there, the song choice serendipitously emerged, and I just knew it had to be “I’m Glad There Is You.” The reflective, hopeful vibe of the music felt like the perfect fit for one of my favorite lyrics: “I’ll live to love, I’ll love to live,” and the song’s beautiful message of meaningful, enduring love.
